You Know Your Family Was Hungarian. Now You Need to Prove It
A citizenship case requires evidence connecting you to your Hungarian ancestor.
Finding and reconstructing that evidence is one of my principal areas of expertise.
Genealogical research for Hungarian citizenship means finding and analysing the records that connect you to your Hungarian ancestor – birth, marriage and death records, civil and religious registers, residence, name-change and migration records – and reconstructing the documentary chain between the generations when a record is missing, a name changed or a village is now in another country. It is the evidence stage of a citizenship case: an application can only be as strong as the records behind it.

When documents are missing
A register may be missing. A surname may have changed. A birthplace may appear differently on foreign and Hungarian documents. A former Hungarian village may now be in another country.
A missing document does not necessarily mean the research has reached a dead end.
What I research
- Birth, marriage and death records
- Civil and religious registers
- Residence, school and address records
- Name changes
- Migration and naturalization evidence
- Historical places and changing borders
- Jewish and Holocaust-era sources
Professional genealogy
My work is not simply ordering certificates. I reconstruct the documentary history, identify where evidence may survive and assess how the records fit together.

From research to citizenship
If the research establishes a viable route, I can continue with the citizenship process: citizenship verification where citizenship passed down the family line, or simplified naturalization where it did not.
